The Pre-K Teacher's Guide gives clear guidance for introducing the aA–zZ characters, including the long vowels. Each double-page spread is devoted to a new Letterland character and covers how to introduce the character, teach the sound it makes in words, write it correctly, explain the varying uppercase shapes, and consolidate learning with engaging activities.

Letter Shapes
Letterland pictograms orient children's eyes in the 'Reading Direction'. Students finger-trace letter shapes, practise correct pencil grip, and use simple character stories to ensure correct formation and avoid confusing similar-looking letters.
Letter Sounds
Students learn to pronounce sounds accurately with the help of the characters. Action Tricks activate kinesthetic and auditory learning channels, with a focus on the five short vowels — while introducing the idea that vowel letters have more than one sound.
